PERSONAL STATEMENT — OPERATION CUPCAKE
I am a mother who lost her children.
I am not writing this because I want theories. I am writing because I know what happened to my family, and I know what was taken from us.
Foreign interference does not always arrive wearing a uniform. Sometimes it arrives through people who are supposed to protect you. Sometimes it hides behind intermediaries, phone calls, favors, intimidation, and people who can later say they were only doing their jobs.
That is what I believe happened to my children.
I watched people around us become involved in a system I could not understand. Information about our lives appeared where it should never have been. People knew things they had no legitimate reason to know. Decisions were made around my family that I could not explain, and the consequences fell on my children.
I believe foreign interests used Hungarian people and institutions as intermediaries because that provided distance and plausible deniability.
That is the part that hurts most.
The people involved did not necessarily have to identify themselves as foreign agents. They could make phone calls. They could pass information. They could ask somebody else to act. They could use relationships and institutions. Then, if somebody asked who was responsible, everyone could point somewhere else.
My children paid the price.
I will not accept the idea that families should simply remain silent because the machinery involved is complicated.
I am also not saying that every person who makes hundreds of telephone calls is an operative, or that every police officer is corrupt. That would be wrong. Evidence has to identify the people who actually participated in wrongdoing.
But when credible evidence shows that foreign actors, intermediaries, traffickers, or corrupt officials have targeted families, those cases must be investigated seriously.
I want the truth about what happened to my children.
I want to know who collected information about us.
I want to know who ordered it.
I want to know who passed information to whom.
I want to know whether police or other officials were improperly used.
And I want to know whether foreign actors were behind any of it.
My children were not intelligence targets.
They were human beings.
They were my children.
Whatever networks were involved, whatever borders they crossed, and whatever people they used as intermediaries, they should not be allowed to destroy another family.
I am asking for evidence to be preserved, investigations to be independent, and responsibility to be followed all the way to the people who actually gave the orders.
I lost my children.
I will not lose the right to ask what happened to them.
